6 The book The Power of Positive Thinking

This book was written by Norman Vincent Peale in 1952. In his introduction, he specified the reason he had when wrote this book. He says: “This is simply a practical manual, direct action, personal improvement, written for the sole purpose of helping the reader achieve a happy, satisfying and valuable life.” He went on to say that the reason he is so sure that the principles will give such results is that they “have been practiced with accomplishments in his Marble Collegiate Church of the City of New York for many years.” The only condition he put is “to read the book reflecting, carefully absorbing its teachings” and with “the tenacity to practice the values and methods established in it.”

Norman Vincent Peale when he was a young student was a very shy person. He said that “he was constantly getting smaller, thinking he had no ability, very little brain and probably could never become someone.” One teacher, at one point, pushed him and told him that he had “enough brain and ability to do something in this world.” This teacher changed his life, but this did not happen immediately, but it helped him start a new way of thinking in his life. He began “to read Emerson, Thoreau, Marco Aurelio and others.” He grew to become a great leader of the 20th century and died in 1992 at the age of 92.

During his life, he wrote many books, the most famous being the “Power of Positive Thinking” translated into 33 languages over the years. He also founded the Guidepost magazine that is now published by http://www.guideposts.org/. This publication is “a monthly inspirational, interreligious and non-profit magazine written by people from all walks of life.” This magazine is very popular.

I recommend reading his books carefully in the way he recommended it and subscribing to his magazine. By reading his books, you will know more about his point of view of how to face life to be successful and happy. In this way, you will follow a path to change your mind to have a powerful positive thought that will revitalize your life every day. Many of the phrases to be used in this blog will be from his books and the bible.

He wanted to reach the defeated, the one who doubted himself and the timid with the message that positive thinking or a life of faith is the true secret of life and an indispensable ingredient for a full and happy life. One of his famous quotes from the Bible is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things thanks to Christ who strengthens me.”
